What do you do for work?
I am a music and drama teacher; I have been teaching for over 20 years. I am originally from England, where I studied performing arts in London and worked as an actress and singer, until moving to Philadelphia with my husband in 2005. Now I take my love of theater into the classroom. Sharing music and storytelling with children is incredibly rewarding. Through the arts children build confidence, they learn to harnesses their creativity and let their imaginations fly! Getting to experience this every day is such a gift and I feel so fortunate to have that.
and for play?
I absolutely love going to the theater, especially musicals. I also love reading, cooking and traveling, but nothing makes me happier than spending time with my wonderful family and friends.
What have you learned from being a teacher?
I have learned that we never stop learning. That it’s important to listen, be open minded to new ideas and to ask questions. Whether it’s the children in your classroom or the colleagues you work with, their thoughts and voices matter. Being open to new experiences, gaining new insights and knowledge help you grow as a teacher and as a person. I know without a doubt that every day I learn more from the children I teach, than they will ever learn from me.

To me, a modern classic is a blend of sophistication with a contemporary feel. An elegant and timeless piece that embraces and complements the current trends.
